FestiJazz Popayán

Festijazz

With the realization of FestiJazz Popayan, the city has become a meeting point for international, national, and local jazz ensembles that grace the main stages of the Cauca capital with performances ranging from traditional jazz to its modern influence on folk music.

New Orleans was the guest city for the FestiJazz inaugural edition in 2019, and Popayan delivered on its commitment to a new festival dedicated to one of the most expansive musical genres in the world: jazz.

The second year of the event featured artists from the United States, Portugal, and Colombia. As it took place during the Coronavirus pandemic, we shifted from in-person performances to streaming broadcasts.

In 2021, we returned to in-person concerts with the participation of renowned national artists, including Maestro Óscar Acevedo, considered the “Dean of Jazz” in Colombia. 2022 welcomed guests from Switzerland and various parts of Colombia.

In 2023, Chile will be the guest of honor featuring Melisa Aldana and her band. We invite you to mark your calendars and join us for our concert lineup from September 15th to 17th in the city of Popayan.

As usual, workshops and masterclasses will be offered by the guest artists free of charge. The main beneficiaries are music students from the region or recent graduates from music programs.

The different editions of FestiJazz Popayan have been made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Popayan, the Government of Cauca, the Bank of the Republic, the Embassies of the United States, Portugal, and Switzerland in Colombia, the Tourism Office of the City of New Orleans, ICESI University, the University of Cauca, the University Foundation of Popayán, Asmet Salud, Servagro, Urbaser, Campanario Shopping Center, and Mundo Mujer Bank.
